The Cherry Blossoms (Sakura 桜) , is Japan’s unofficial national flower.
Every spring, many Japanese people and visitors from the worldwide make efforts to see this well-loved flower, a tradition known as hanami 花見 ( “flower viewing” = a picnic event to enjoy the blossoms). The flower also plays an important role in the country’s songs, poems, art, and ceremonies. There are many dozens of different cherry tree varieties in Japan Around the country there is Sakura Festival (Sakura Matsuri) a celebration to the season, dedicated to appreciating the beauty of the cherry blossoms.
