Hydrangea
The Hydrangea (紫陽花, アジサイ, Ajisai ) is another one of the popular flowers in Japan.
Hydrangeas typically bloom during the rainy season in June ~ July, making them a symbol and the most popular flower of the season.
When you think about the rainy season you might picture dark, dull days full of muggy weather, but hydrangea coloring the streets of Japan in vivid shades of pinks, purples, and blues, and also a marble colors on one flower petals. The colorful flowers are the perfect cure for rainy days of June and July.
The color of hydrangea is largely affected by the pH in the soil.
Acidic soils (which contains aluminum ) will produce blue to purple flowers, while alkaline soils will produce pinks and reds.

There are over 100 varieties of hydrangeas of various colors in Japan.
They are often planted on temple and shrine grounds, but also can be seen a walk around the cities throughout the country–in parks, and along sidewalks.
Some temples and parks are known for their hydrangea gardens and are popular places to see large numbers of Hydrangea flowers in a picturesque setting.
