There are about 2,500 waterfalls in Japan.
Japan is also known as country of mountain and forest which create many beautiful waterfalls all over the country.
There are list of Three Best Waterfalls (三大瀑布) in Japan, and also a list of 100 Best Waterfalls (日本の滝百選) which selected by Ministry of the Environment and other NPO.

Tohoku

Oirase Stream
Oirase Gorge is one of the most beautiful river valleys in Japan, located in Aomori prefecture. It has an attractive atmosphere with about 13 different waterfalls .
The autumn season is the most recommended, but also the summer season  is beautiful.

Kanto

Oshiraji Falls
One of the hidden spots located in Tochigi Prefecture.
Oshiraji Waterfall is a scenic mountainous pool and accompanying waterfall. The pool of water has a stunning crystal clear blue.

Chubu

Kawazu Nanadaru
Seven waterfalls in the mountains above Kawazu Town in southeastern Izu.
A pleasant walking trail that takes about 1 hour and half, leads for about one kilometer through the forest and past the waterfalls.
You can also soak in hot-springs with view to one of the waterfalls there.

Kansai

Nachi Waterfall
One of three Japan’s tallest waterfall, with an uninterrupted drop of 133 meters.
