Hitachi Seaside Park (ひたち海浜公園) is located in Ibaraki Prefecture facing to the Pacific Ocean . And its featuring a variety of green spaces and many seasonal flowers.
There are two main season that the park is popular in: Spring ( late April to mid May ) – The park’s iconic flower the blue nemophila, which covers the hill in the spring and looks like it continue of the sky thanks to its similar sky color. Fall (early to mid October) – The same hill is in fall covered with the fresh vivid red color of the Kokia.
This park is also famous for other seasonal flowers blooming throughout the year – narcissus, tulips, and roses, cosmos and a really beautiful park to be .
But in this post, we want to write about the nemphila blue!
What kind of Flowers are Nemophila?
Nemophila flowers also known commonly as baby blue eyes or baby’s-blue-eyes, with Beautiful pale blue. And actually native to North America. They mostly bloom in the spring. Their flowers have five petals and are bell or cup-shaped, and purple, blue, or white in color.
In Hitachi SeaSide Park there over 5 million blue flowers that cover the coastal hill (which called Miharashi Hills) and transform the field to the never ending blue skies.
There is also Nemophila Ice cream that sold in near the blue hill! The blue taste is in Ramune Soda , pretty tasty!
What other flowers you can see in Spring season -
Near the Miharashi Hill, you can see a beautiful yellow field of Rapeseed. You can take a beautiful picture of this yellow flowers with the blue nemophila hill.
In mid April you also can see the colorful Tulip area that located on the other area of the park. It has so many different colors of Tulips that it makes it so colorful inside the forest of the park.
Not Only Flowers
Hitachi Seaside Park also features a small amusement park with over 25 rides and attractions, including a 100 meter tall Ferris wheel offering outstanding view. And other areas that allow you to enjoy nature include the Rinkan Athletic Grounds, Barbecue Zone, and Cycling Course. Fun place for children and adults!

Best Time to see: The Nemophila Harmony beautiful to see from late April till early May.
Access: There are direct bus from Tokai Station (about 30 minutes) , or from Katsuta Station (that in operation at the season only that takes 15 minutes) .
