About The Area
Takaragawa Onsen Osenkaku is located in Minakami Onsen area in Gunma Prefecture.
Minakami is a popular hot spring destination with some rather famous baths, including outdoor baths with beautiful views of nature. One of them is Takaragawa Onsen.
About The Onsen
Takaragawa Onsen is one of the dreamy hot spring for couples and families, thanks to its features. The onsen offer four outdoor baths, with three of them being mixed gender (In Japanese it called- konyoku 混浴) and the fourth one is for woman only bath.
And one of the reasons why this is a popular option amongst couples and families, is the fact that visitors are allowed to use the onsen’s rented bathing clothes to cover their bodies . It is actually a modern option that was made recently. Before few years ago, Takaragawa onsen was mix-bathing with only naked option.
So, nowadays in the onsen you can rental a bathing clothes which is include in the entrance fee for about ￥1,500 for one day.
More than a mixed-gender bath
In Takaragawa onsen you can Enjoy the hot springs of all seasons.
The Onsen is nature-surrounded, while you enjoying and relaxing in the hot spring , you can see the stream of Takaraga into the beautiful lodging inside the great nature.
In Autumn –
you can enjoy the red-orange momiji leaves during autumn that will blanket the forest around you.
In Winter –
Since the area is snowy region, the pure white snow carpeting the floor and hanging on the roofs will make you feel like you’re in a fairy tale. And makes it a very romantic spot especially for couples.
In spring and summer –
You can enjoy the fresh green leaf of the green season.
If we had to choose a season to recommend, it would definitely be either autumn or winter, purely for the breathtaking views you’ll be able to witness.
We visited there in the Winter. It was super romantic, and ideal one-day trip from Tokyo.
Access
From Minakami Station there is a bus to Takragawa Onsen. The bus station name is “Takaragawa-Iriguchi”
This bus only operates twice daily, once at 10:45am and once more at 13:35pm (in the time we went) . We recommend you to check the bus time again before you go, the time may change.

From Minakami Station, there is a bus which only operates twice daily so need to be careful with the hours.
